Hawaii - The Big Island Golf Courses

For millions of years, rains poured across the lands of volcanic peaks feeding into countless waterfalls, pounding rock into fertile lands. This gave way to the emerald green plains, creating the finest golf courses in the world. The Hawaiian Islands are home to over 80 golf courses, 17 of which are located on the Big Island. Since Hawai’i offers comfortable weather year round, it is always golf season on the islands. With the varied terrains of lush valleys, breathtaking oceanside cliffs, manicured greens atop a sea of black lava, and landscaped garden oasis, it’s no wonder that many have made it a golfer’s haven.

Hawaii’s Big Island is known as the “Golf Capital of Hawaii.” The striking contrasts of lush green fairways and pure white bunkers set against jet-black lava flows and turquoise blue water make for some of the most scenic holes anywhere. The more well-known courses are located on the Kohala Coast, and include Hapuna Golf Course, Mauna Kea Golf Course, Mauna Lani Resort’s North and South courses, Waikoloa’s Beach and Kings’ courses, and Hualalai Golf Course. Located near the seaside village of Kona are the two courses of Kona Country Club and the Big Island Country Club.
