Maui Golf Courses

The game may have been invented in Scotland, but it has found a true vacation home on Maui’s Golf Coast. At the northern end of the island is the golf resort of Kapalua, with its three courses, the Bay, Village and Plantation. Fifteen minutes south of Kapalua is the well-known resort area of Kaanapali, featuring two courses. At the sunny southern end of the island, ninety holes of golf are within five minutes of each other. Wailea’s Gold, Blue and Emerald courses, and Makena’s North and South courses all expertly combine views of the mountains with postcard ocean settings.
Elleair Maui Golf Club and Dunes at Maui Lani are wonderful additions to any Maui Golf Escape.
- Kaanapali Golf Courses
Kaanapali’s Tournament North Course opened its lush fairways in 1962 and is one of only two courses in Hawaii designed by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The Tournament course begins at sea level and then curves upward and along the shore lines before winding its way to the West Maui Mountain foothills. The architect took advantage of the rolling landscape to create gently sloping fairways and large contoured greens to ensure a challenging approach to each hole. With a combination of wide fairways and subtle greens, the Resort South Course accommodates all levels of play.
Along many holes on the Resort Course lie natural canals, gulches and lava rock boundaries. Players will see native flowers along the course trails like the hibiscus, bougainvillea and plumeria, as well as the Cook and Norfolk Pines that line many fairways.

- Elleair Maui Golf Club is located in the heart of Kihei's resort area. The course provides a beautiful view of the mountains and ocean from each hole. Kihei also boasts minimal rainfall during the year. The course becomes challenging due to the constant trade winds. Elleair Maui Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 71 layout, privately owned and open to the public. Exquisite ocean and mountain views accent every hole. In the winter months humpback whales may be seen playing just off the shore line.
Elleair can be a challenge for all levels of play and the course is maintained just like Maui's best resorts at a more affordable price.

- Wailea Golf Club On the sunny southern coast of Maui is a 1,500-acre slice known as Wailea Resort. Its 54-holes of championship golf include the Blue, Gold, and Emerald courses. The "worst" hazards are the visual ones: the Pacific Ocean, the rolling hills with surprise valleys, the wide and deep bunkers, and the towering palm trees. The Gold Course is the home of The Senior Skins Game and is the most challenging of Wailea's trio. Its 200-foot elevation change from top to bottom enhances the numerous ocean and mountain vistas. Throughout the Emerald Course, tropical flowers flourish in great abundance and splash bright colors, like an opulent oil painting. But just because it's a pretty course, don't be fooled. The Emerald Course is superbly designed. From the back, you'll be challenged by 6,825 yards of pure golf pleasure.
Similarly, the worst hazards on the Blue are the visual ones. It was designed to appeal to a broad range of players and while it has challenged some of the finest professional players in the world, it also offers a measure of forgiveness in its wider faiways and large greens.

- Makena Golf Club
Makena, Maui's southern-most resort, is known for its warm white sand beaches and the famous Makena Golf Courses. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., these unique courses boast 36 spectacular holes across 1,800 acres of unspoiled coastline offering some of the most pristine golf imaginable. The North Course feels more like a nature walk than a golf course, with captivating mountain views of Haleakala Crater and sweeping views of the blue Pacific Ocean.
Hawaiian rock walls remain where they were found, and natural gullies and stream beads are left intact. The older of the two courses, the South Course, is a 6,739 -yard, par 72 course with natural kiawe tree lined fairways, well manicured greens, and outstanding ocean and mountain views. Its natural rolling fairways, undulating greens, and breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains, make the South Course a favorite among Maui golfers.
